Tier One Programs

Core Curriculum: The Core Curriculum for classes at Plano High School is modified to reflect the Common Core Standards with a greater emphasis on development of skills as well as higher level thinking.

Homework Learning Lab: Homework Learning Lab is a program that was started this year as an opportunity for students with missing work to get that work completed and turned in.  Students are referred to Homework Learning Lab by their teachers or the Student Services Team after missing an assignment or multiple assignments, and remain in that Learning Lab until the assignments are completed.  If the assignments are not completed, or if it becomes a pattern, teachers contact home and meetings may be scheduled to make sure that all students are achieving to the best of their abilities.

Pride Pennies: Pride Pennies are a PBIS incentive that is used by all staff in the school.  Students can earn Pennies by showing Reaper Pride and by following what is outlined on the PHS behavior matrix.  The pennies can be traded for items in the school store such as school supplies, privilege coupons and gift cards, among other things.

Transformers: Transformers is a program that is evolving this year.  Students will apply to be a Transformer and will help to mentor freshmen students through their first year of high school.  Transformers will spend the first semester of school working with their freshmen students on a regular basis to help them adapt to the new school environment.  Second semester will be spent choosing new Transformer members and doing team building activities to ensure that they work well with each other.  Transformers are also involved in planning and putting on the picnic for freshmen students at the beginning of the year.

PBIS Refreshers: All school refreshers are conducted on a quarterly basis in order to focus on specific target behaviors within the school.  See the main PBIS page for these refreshers.

PBIS Assemblies: All school assemblies occur quarterly to remind students of the expectations held at PHS as well as to give them an opportunity to do something fun.  Assemblies include speakers, class olympics, St. Baldricks, and other similar events.  Awards are handed out to the students with the highest number of merit points for the semester, and students that are achieving academically are given a special reward for their hard work.

Family Focus: Family focus is a free after school program for students run by Family Focus Aurora.   Family Focus provides students with academic support, snacks, Service Learning Projects, educational field trips, and other great opportunities.  Students can apply for Family Focus by visiting anyone in Student Services or Meredith Ament.
